Is manual handling training required by law in Ireland?

Employers have a legal duty under the 2005 Act to avoid or reduce manual handling risks and to train staff whose work involves lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling loads. A recognised certificate is the standard way to show this training has been completed.

How does the practical assessment work?

You watch a short instruction video, then record yourself performing a safe lift directly on the page using your phone or webcam — or upload a video you recorded earlier. Our system analyses your back alignment, knee bend and how close you keep the load, and a qualified assessor reviews the result before your certificate is approved. If the technique needs work, you'll be asked to retake it with feedback.

How do employers verify my certificate?

Every certificate and printed card carries a unique number and QR code. Scanning the code or entering the number on our verification page shows the certificate copy, the holder's name, module attendance, test and practical scores, and the issue and expiry dates — no login required.

What if I fail the test?

You see exactly which questions you got right and wrong, with the correct answers and a link back to the relevant module. You can then retake the test as many times as you need at no extra cost.

How do I get the printed photo ID card?

If you ordered the card option — or add it later from your certificate page — you confirm your delivery address after your photo is taken, and we post the card within five working days. The card shows your photo, name, certificate number and expiry date, with a QR code that opens your verification page.
