Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 15 September 2026

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website and services provided by ManualHandlingIreland.ie ("we", "us", "our") at https://manualhandlingireland.ie.

By accessing the website, booking a course or using any of our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use our services.

1. Who we are

ManualHandlingIreland.ie

Email: info@manualhandlingireland.ie

2. Our services

We provide online manual handling training, assessment and certification. Depending on the option you choose, this may include:

  • Online course modules with narrated video content in several languages
  • An online theory test with a defined pass mark
  • A practical assessment based on a recording of your own lifting technique
  • A digital certificate and, where purchased, a printed photo ID card posted to you
  • Corporate arrangements for employers booking training for their staff

All training is delivered online unless we agree otherwise in writing. Course content, prices and options may be updated from time to time.

3. Eligibility and your details

You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from your employer or guardian, to book a course.

You agree to give accurate and complete details when booking, including your full name, email address, phone number and postal address. Your certificate and any printed card are produced from the details you supply, so please check them carefully. We can correct details on request before a card is printed; reprints after posting may incur a charge.

4. Access to your course

We do not require you to create a password. After booking, we email you a secure personal link that opens your course, your results and your certificate.

  • Keep that link private — anyone who has it can access your training record
  • Do not share your course access, results or certificate with another person
  • Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has gained access to your record

We may suspend or withdraw access where details given are false, where access is shared, or where these Terms are breached.

5. Recordings, photographs and assessment

Where your course includes a practical assessment, you upload or record a short video of yourself performing a lift. Where you order a printed ID card, you also provide a portrait photograph.

  • Recordings and photographs are stored privately and are used only to assess your technique, to produce your certificate or card, and to keep an audit record of your assessment
  • Practical recordings are reviewed and assessed by our certified instructor for back alignment, knee bend and load position
  • You must appear in your own recording and photograph; submitting somebody else's footage or image is grounds for cancellation without refund
  • Only record in a place where it is safe and lawful for you to do so, and never attempt a lift that is beyond your capability

If a recording does not meet the assessment criteria, we will ask you to submit a new one. Where a submission is unclear, too short or unusable, we may request a retake before issuing a result.

6. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in euro on the website and include VAT where applicable. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.

  • Your booking is confirmed only once payment has been received and confirmed by the payment provider
  • Prices, course options and add-ons may change at any time; the price shown when you pay is the price that applies to that booking
  • Discount and referral codes are subject to any conditions stated when they are issued and may be withdrawn at any time
  • Access may be suspended where a payment fails, is reversed or is charged back

7. Cancellation and refunds

Our courses are digital content supplied immediately. Where you are a consumer under EU and Irish consumer law, you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a distance purchase, but by starting the course you ask us to begin supplying it immediately and acknowledge that you lose that right once access has been granted.

  • Before you open the course, we will refund your payment in full on request
  • After you have started the course, purchases are non-refundable except where required by law
  • Printed card orders can be cancelled for a refund until the card has been produced and posted
  • We may issue a refund at our discretion in exceptional circumstances

To request a refund, email info@manualhandlingireland.ie with your name and the email address used to book.

8. Certificates and cards

A certificate is issued once you have completed the course in full and passed any assessment included in your chosen option.

  • Certificates state the course completed, the date of issue and the expiry date, and can be checked by anyone using the verification code or QR code
  • Certificates and cards are issued in English regardless of the language you study in
  • Certificates are normally valid for three years from the date of issue; we aim to remind you before they expire
  • Printed cards are posted to the delivery address you confirm, normally within five working days of the order being processed
  • It is your responsibility to make sure the training you choose meets your own employer's or regulator's requirements

Our training is designed to reflect Irish manual handling legislation and Health and Safety Authority guidance, but we cannot guarantee that any particular employer, site or organisation will accept a certificate.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share, resell or give another person access to a course you have purchased
  • Download, copy, record, distribute or republish our course videos or materials
  • Attempt to bypass payment, assessment or security measures, or falsify an assessment result
  • Use the website to upload unlawful, harmful or offensive material
  • Interfere with the operation of the website or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it

We may suspend or cancel access, without refund, where these rules are breached.

10. Intellectual property

All course materials, videos, narration, assessment content, certificate designs, branding and website content are owned by or licensed to ManualHandlingIreland.ie.

You may use the materials for your own training. You may not copy, sell, redistribute or use them commercially, or use our name, logo or certificate design, without our written permission.

11. Employer and corporate bookings

Where an employer books training for staff, the employer is responsible for payment and for providing accurate details for each learner. Certificates are issued in the name of the individual learner. Employers may be given access to completion and expiry information for the staff they have paid for.

12. Service availability

We aim to keep the service available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update the platform, carry out maintenance, or suspend the service temporarily where necessary.

13. Limitation of liability

Our services are provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including loss of income, contracts or business opportunity.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish or EU law

Our training is educational guidance. It does not replace your employer's risk assessments, supervision or site-specific procedures, and you remain responsible for working safely.

14. Data protection

We handle your personal data, including your recordings and photographs, in line with the GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

15. Termination

We may suspend or end your access where you breach these Terms, act fraudulently or abusively, or where we are required to do so by law. You may stop using the service at any time.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are significant we will update the date at the top of this page and give notice where appropriate. Continuing to use the service means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
